Gaslighting
= a form of psychological abuse (emotional manipulation) meant to deceive you
& make you doubt your own sanity & perceptions of reality (in Filipino:
BINABALIKTAD KA)
--Goal:
DEFLECT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
--Means:
MANIPULATE YOUR PERCEPTION (by making you feel Paranoid & Schiz) especially
if they know you’re RIGHT & have no way to gain the upper hand in an
argument
--NB:
There’s a difference between letting someone tell you their side of the story
vs. letting them feed you with LIES.
They usually start with the word “YOU”
– You’re the one who’s always in the wrong. You’re the one who’s mistaken. You’re
the one causing the problem. NOT ME. NEVER ME.
1.”I
have NO IDEA what you’re talking about!” “Let me tell you what really happened.”
2. “You’re
OVERREACTING!” “You’re being too SENSITIVE / EMOTIONAL!”
3. “You’re
IMAGINING things.” “That’s NOT what happened at all.”
4. “You’re
not making any SENSE!” “Can you even hear yourself?” “You know, you sound CRAZY
right now, right?”
5. “Stop
EXAGGERATING the situation!”
6. “If
anything, I’m the one who should be mad at YOU!”
7. “Don’t
listen to anything they tell you. You CAN’T TRUST anyone but ME!” “Why would
you listen to them?” “You’d believe them over ME?”
Conclusion:
“You’re RIGHT about a lot of things, you’re NOT CRAZY! They’re the ones you
should have never trusted in the first place!”
