Otto KERNBERG coined the term "borderline" as situated between psychosis and neurosis

however, since the term is now outdated (the distinction between psychosis & neurosis is no longer used by DSM, the diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association) & potentially stigmatizing, suggestions are: Emotional INTENSITY or DYSREGULATED Disorder or DYSLYMBIA
